I can't fight this feelin' anymore

You know that saying, "its easier said than done"? Well I think its over rated just a tad. I mean is whatever someone is suggesting really so hard to see ourselves doing? Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about...

My wonderful husband comes home from work and finds a tinker toy, randomly placed in the middle of the hallway. His response you may already know..."What's this doing here?" My response is more like "um...not really sure but probably our son was playing and left it". Now if your a mom or dad of a toddler  and have a little baby as well, you and I both know how hard it can be to keep things tidy. However, is it necessary to ALWAYS use this as an excuse? Things can't ALWAYS be crazy. Things can't ALWAYS be impossible to manage...can they?
Or what about that diet we keep saying we're going to start and it just never really happens? We use the holidays or special occasions as excuses to procrastinate starting that Jillian Michael's boot camp DVD till after that rather large slice of cake...(mmm). What's the REAL problem?

In Romans 7 Paul addresses that struggle between our spirit man and our flesh. He says in verse 18, "I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out". Verse 21 again says, "When I want to do good, evil is right there with me". Now we know not being perfect is not a sin. Nor is it a sin to have cake. But when we know we CAN help ourselves and SHOULD address some bad habits in our lives our "flesh" tries to coerce us to just put it off.  James 4:17 tells us,"Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't, sins".

God knows there are those days when we're tired and need a break. But lets remember God knows when we have had enough and when we can push through. He knows when we're having a hard time and when we are just dragging our feet on purpose.

  1. Such truth and wisdom here, Cammie! I'm trying to live life with a "no excuses" to God mentality. It's hard!! Prayers are appreciated!
